POPIA Compliance Statement

1. Purpose of processing
Neighborly processes personal information to facilitate local service bookings, verify provider identity, maintain trust and safety, and comply with legal obligations under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
2. Lawful basis
Processing is based on consent (e.g. marketing where opted in), contract performance (providing the Platform), legitimate interests (fraud prevention, analytics), and legal obligation where applicable.
3. Categories of data subjects
Clients, service providers, administrators, and visitors who interact with Neighborly websites or apps.

5. Data subject rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of processing, and object to direct marketing.

6. Cross-border transfers
Where data is processed outside South Africa, we ensure recipients provide adequate protection or appropriate safeguards as required by POPIA.
7. Security compromises
If a security breach poses risk to data subjects, we will notify the Information Regulator and affected users as required by law.
8. Complaints
You may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) if you believe your rights have been infringed.
